RVA Testing Psychologist

General Questions

Below are some general questions regarding intake and follow-up appointments. For more information regarding payment for services, please see the Payment Options page.

At this time, intake and results review appointments are available virtually and in-person, you have the choice. This can be mixed with in-person as well (for example, one parent can come to the meeting, but other parent cannot make the drive- No worries! We can have one parent join virtually while the other comes in person, or both stay virtual, or both come in person!

Actual testing is conducted in person with following of CDC guidelines at this time.

Work samples- if you are concerned with your child’s academic performance and have samples of their work, I would love to see it.

Grades (from the last several years, if available)

Retentions, attendance, etc.

Make sure you have completed your online forms that were emailed to you.

If your child is working with a therapist and you want me to consult during the process, please inform them of testing and sign consent on their end.

If you are going to pursue a school observation, please give them a heads up – Also, please do not have your child at the intake to allow for school observation to be as organic as possible.

Please inform teacher of evaluation (if you are planning on doing so), and give consent to complete requested paperwork from me.

Some questions that I like to ask during a first session include:

What brought you to therapy?

What goals would you like to reach by going to therapy?

What do I need to know about you to understand your current challenges? How do I explain testing to my child?

Results are typically reviewed about two to three weeks after testing is completed. A copy of the report is usually ready within 24-hours of the final results appointment. All documents can be accessed through the IntakeQ Patient Portal.
